Comfort Zone
Well, I’ve resisted stepping out of my “comfort zone” for quite a long time. There are so many wonderful blogs out there that it’s a bit intimidating jumping in the pool! I know how I work, delay, make excuses then getting tired of wimping out then just going for it out of the blue.
A little background history about me. My day job has been an American Sign Language Interpreter. I’ve had the pleasure of working as an interpreter for many years. The fact that each day there are different clients, different locations and settings makes my job exciting and never boring. What causes my job to be stressful is working with different clients every day, different locations every day and different settings. I tend to be a creature of habit so this can be a challenge for me. It’s that old “comfort zone” again for me. The thought of going to the same office everyday has always motivated me to accept the challenge. I’ve always loved antiques and vintage things. It’s that comfort thing again. I feel comfortable with things that are a bit broken in. A year ago I decided to take a new challenge to open a very tiny spot in an antique mall. Again that was something I delayed. I made excuses why it probably wasn’t a good idea. Let’s face it it’s a bit scary to put things out there and have people reject what you think is great! That adventure actually has been going pretty well. All along in the back of my mind I kept thinking online selling could be a great experience too. I live in the Midwest so we still have lots of back roads that offer things that are difficult to find in other parts of the country. Well, beings I took on those adventures I decided to be a big girl and start the blog I always thought about.
I really feel I need to do my part in the blog world. I have enjoyed reading Tracey’s “Notes from A Cottage Industry” for so MANY years. Now that is a lady that has had her share of life’s ups and downs. She should be a motivational speaker! Another blog I enjoy reading is Rosemary’s “Content in A Cottage“. Having grown up in NJ it’s so nice that people can get a glimpse into the New Jersey I enjoyed. No we didn’t all behave like the people on “Jersey Shores”. Then there is Karen’s delightful blog “Garden, Home & Party“. I just love her style. There are so many others I pop over to read that this list would never end!
I have no idea where I fit in this huge blogging world but it’s time for me to step out of my “comfort zone” and find out. So here we go Coco get off the chair we have work to do!
Best,
Kathy
