Busy Day

20120530-173534.jpg

This has been one of those busy days. The kind when you fly around doing all the things you think about getting to but put off until marathon mood kicks in. I’ve had this material for a little while. I’ve been wanting to add a bit of color to the living room for summer. It tends to have a rather masculine feel in there. I like that feeling for the cold months, but once the weather turns warm the need for change happens over night, and I mean over night! Yesterday I loved you, today you’re out of here. I used to find notes in my kids rooms “Mom don’t throw this out”. Let’s just say I can get on a roll.

Here’s Coco saying “Please whatever you do don’t clean out the biscuit jar!”

“The jar is getting kind of low, in case you haven’t noticed.”

Decoration Day

20120526-071849.jpg

A time to pause and remember why we have what we have. God bless all the people that have served.

Hope everyone has a very nice weekend! It’s going to be a hot one here at Western Reserve Butler’s Pantry. I can’t even imagine the troops in the Middle East wearing such heavy gear in that heat. I’ll try my best to remember that when I start to whine about how hot it is. Once it gets to 90 or above I enter into my uncontrollable complaining mode.

The thrill of gardening. I read so many beautiful blogs about everyone’s gardens. It’s so exciting to come out of winter and dig in. Get the dirt under your nails. Feel one with nature. The roses are blooming!!! Everything is right in my little world. Then while feeling quite proud of my tiny haven, eating our grilled brussels sprouts, salad tossed with homemade dressing and grilled chicken, I spy the dreaded BLACK SPOTS!!! That’s it. I no longer hear a word Mr. WRBP is saying about his day. I’m on high alert. There’s trouble in my little haven. I’m like Coco instead of going on chippy attack its all about the BLACK SPOTS! Then I have that same nagging thought I get every year. Why do I do this to myself? Thank goodness half the year I don’t have to deal with this. I know it’s a sickness.

Best!

I hope you’re having as nice a weekend as we are at WRBP! When we finished working on a couple things around the house we decided to it was time to go play. We headed down the road to a cute wine bar a friend told me about. I have a feeling we will become regulars at this little gem.

Coco was on mole and chipmunk duty. She had to stay behind to keep an eye on the situation.

Packing Up

20120518-080803.jpg
Taking a few more things out to my booth. There’s a big sale on Sunday. It feels good having that taken care of. I don’t know how people handle large shows. Coco was busy having a manicure while I was pricing and packing. A girl needs cuticle attention after digging up the flowers I just planted!!!

A cozy spot

20120515-172450.jpg

It was a beautiful day today!!  Just perfect for planting a few more herbs.  This is the patio right off the kitchen.  We fenced it all the way around so it feels like a SMALL courtyard.   We’re able to keep one little critter, Coco, in and the other critters out.  It’s difficult to get the  lighting right.  It seems to be either too bright when the sun is over head or shadows later in the afternoon.   I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact I can’t take photos.  Also I  used my iPad.  Not sure that’s such a great way to take photos for a blog.

Comfort Zone

Comfort Zone

Well, I’ve resisted stepping out of my “comfort zone” for quite a long time.   There are so many wonderful blogs out there that it’s a bit intimidating jumping in the pool!  I know how I work, delay, make excuses then getting tired of wimping out then just going for it out of the blue.

A little background history about me.  My day job has been an American Sign Language Interpreter.  I’ve had the pleasure of working as an interpreter for many years.  The fact that each day there are different clients, different locations and settings makes my job exciting and never boring.  What causes my job to be stressful is working with different clients every day, different locations every day and different settings.  I tend to be a creature of habit so this can be a challenge for me.  It’s that old “comfort zone” again for me. The thought of going to the same office everyday has always motivated me to accept the challenge.  I’ve always loved antiques and vintage things.  It’s that comfort thing again.  I feel comfortable with things that are a bit broken in.  A year ago I decided to take a new challenge to open a very tiny spot in an antique mall.  Again that was something I delayed. I made excuses why it probably wasn’t a good idea.  Let’s face it it’s a bit scary to put things out there and have people reject what you think is great!  That adventure actually has been going pretty well.  All along in the back of my mind I kept thinking online selling could be a great experience too.  I live in the Midwest so we still have lots of back roads that offer things that are difficult to find in other parts of the country.  Well, beings I took on those adventures I decided to be a big girl and start the blog I always thought about.

I really feel I need to do my part in the blog world.  I have enjoyed reading Tracey’s “Notes from A Cottage Industry” for so MANY years.  Now that is a lady that has had her share of life’s ups and downs.  She should be a motivational speaker!  Another blog I enjoy reading is Rosemary’s “Content in A Cottage“.  Having grown up in NJ it’s so nice that people can get a glimpse into the New Jersey I enjoyed.  No we didn’t all behave like the people on “Jersey Shores”. Then there is Karen’s delightful blog “Garden, Home & Party“. I just love her style.  There are so many others I pop over to read that this list would never end!

I have no idea where I fit in this huge blogging world but it’s time for me to step out of my “comfort zone” and find out.  So here we go Coco get off the chair we have work to do!

Best,

Kathy
